Do you love a good book? Maybe you don't even like reading, but you like a fully stocked shelf with amazing covers, illustrations, and sprayed edges? Well Art books have the best of both worlds!

Art books are some of the most exciting books on our shelves, especially "Art of..." books. Not only are they visually amazing, but they also contain extra lore, and a window into the thinking, production and process behind the scenes of a series, game, movie or comic.

There's a great many to art books out there to enjoy, but here's a five that we love to look at, and another bonus one that we look forward to grabbing when it's released.

  1. Animals Real and Imagined, Terryl Whitlatch

    (Affiliate Link)

Everyone seems obsessed with this book, and I fully understand why. Terryl Whitlatch has an impressive client list, having worked on Star Wars, John Carter, Disney's Brave, and more. This artbook contains an amazing collection and commentary of Whitlatch's creature design and drawing and is definitely one you fantasy and animal enthusiast will want to keep around.

  2. The Art of Remember Me

    (Affiliate Link)

While this game goes largely forgotten by time (its team pivoted away from this style of game and went on to create the widely acclaimed Life is Strange), it's marketing and art direction have stood the test of time and remain a great example of how to build a visually interesting sci-fi narrative. Orange, black and white have never looked so good!

  3. The Art of What if...?

    (Affiliate Link)

Marvel was always going to find its way onto the list. The MCU has consistently given us amazing designs and visuals over the last two decades, and what if gives us an even greater window into how they get from the comic based source materials, to the movies, then to a series. Bright, colourful and full of charm. This one is deserves its space on our shelf.

  4. The Wicked + The Divine: The covers version

An impressive comic series, with covers that jumped right of the shelves in the book and comic stores. It's great to have all of the series cover art all in one extremely high quality book. This is by far one of the most attractively wrapped books in our collection.

  5. The Art and Making of Arcane

    (Affiliate Link)

After Into the Spiderverse's distinct visual style rocked the animation world, Arcane built upon that combination of 2D and 3D styles to create something just as iconic. This stunning art book (complete with Jinx's scribbles), was given to us as a gift, and it's a treasured one.

Bonus: The Art of Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu

    (Affiliate Link)

While its not yet out at the time of this blogs writing, everyone loves this bounty hunter and his cute force sensitive sidekick. The designs in the series and movie have carved their own path in the Star Wars universe, while still holding true to that original feel of all the prior entries. This one has us excited and might warrant a pre-order.

So that's our list! Did any stand out to you? Or maybe we missed something? Let us know in the comments.

Art books are also a great gift to give to others, why not check out our gifting list for artsy people to see what else might be worth grabbing for yourself or someone special.
